LEARNING LOG 5
After reading the unseen booklet, I have learnt various ways of answering questions in the literature examinations. We should approach an unseen poem like any other poem. Read the poem twice and with feelings and let our imagination flow. This helps us to understand the poem better. Make short but clear notes on the margins of the poem. Ask yourselves a few questions such as "Who is doing the speaking in the poem?", "When was the poem written?" and so on. Never rush through to answer the questions, otherwise we will answer what we want to write rather than what the question is asking for. There are also various ways of answering questions such as explaining, describing in our own words, comment, give evidence, compare and/or contrast or giving opinions. I have also learnt ways to organize our answers such as using the IBC model which is "Introduction, body and conclusion". There is also the PEEL model which is "Point, explain or elaborate, evidence and link". The evidence to quote depends on which is easier and more interesting to read. The ABCs in quoting are attention, brief and context.
