Learning Log 6
In the literature lessons, I have learnt many new literary devices and have revised a few of the ones we learnt last year. The literary devices can be classified into 3 categories, imagery and figurativve language, sound devices and diction and sentence structures. For the imagery and figurative language, we have learnt literary devices such as simile, metaphor and personification, ones we learnt last year. But also new literary devices such as kinestethic, gustatory, tactile, symbol and so on. For the sound devices, we have literary devices such as tone, rhythm, rhyme, alliteration and so on. Finally for diction and sentence structures, we have learnt literary devices such as oxymorons, paradox, hyperbole, connotation and so on. We have also learnt the meanings of the literary devices and some examples of it in a sentence. Most importantly, we have learnt how the poets and persona make use of all these literary devices in a poem and this also helps us to analyse and understand the poem better.
